FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is accent training?

Accent training is a method of improving the clarity and accuracy of your spoken English by focusing on pronunciation, intonation, rhythm, and stress—helping you sound more natural and easily understood when using an American English accent.

Will I have to "lose" my native accent?

No, not at all. The goal of accent training is not to erase your identity, but to help you speak more clearly and confidently in English. You’ll learn how to adjust your accent when needed, without losing the unique qualities of your voice.  While some learners can achieve near-native pronunciation, the main goal is clarity and natural rhythm when speaking in English.

Who is accent training for?

Anyone who has a high proficiency in English and wants to be better understood when speaking English, specifically using the American English accent. This includes healthcare professionals, business professionals, executives, students, public speakers, actors, influencers, and anyone looking to improve communication in everyday life.

Why use the American accent?

  • Widely Understood: American English is one of the most globally recognized and understood accents, making communication more accessible across cultures.
  • Professional Advantage: Many international companies and industries use American English as the standard business language, giving you an edge in interviews, meetings, and presentations.
  • Global Media Influence: Movies, TV shows, podcasts, and online content often feature American accents, helping you better understand and engage with popular media.
  • Academic Relevance: Many universities, especially in the U.S., expect or teach American English pronunciation, which can support better classroom communication and presentations.
  • Improved Clarity: Learning the American accent helps reduce miscommunication when using English by emphasizing clear pronunciation and rhythm.
  • Easier Connection: Speaking with an American accent can help you build rapport more quickly with native speakers in the U.S. and beyond.
  • Boosted Confidence: Feeling understood boosts your confidence in everyday conversations, public speaking, and professional interactions.

How long does it take to notice improvement?

Results will vary and this is up to you!  Many people begin to notice changes within a few weeks of consistent practice. Significant improvements typically come after a few months, depending on your goals, frequency of training, and commitment to daily practice.

Do I need to change everything about my accent?

No, what you want to change about your accent is up to you!  We provide feedback regarding differences between your current accent and the target accent, but you ultimately decide on what you would like to change.

Will this help me professionally?

That is our goal! Clear communication can boost confidence, reduce misunderstandings, and improve your impact in interviews, meetings, presentations, during live or recoded videos, networking situations, and during colleague and client interactions.
